Dan Torop is a photographer whose images examine how we shape and imagine the land. His work has been shown in solo and group shows at numerous institutions, including Derek Eller Gallery, Tomato Mouse, Memphis's Tops Gallery, the Lynden Sculpture Garden, the CLUI Wendover Exhibit Hall, Fish Island Gallery, American Museum of the Moving Image, Green Gallery, the San Francisco Exploratorium, Petzel Gallery, Marianne Boesky Gallery, and the New York Video Festival.

Triple Canopy, Paper Monument, Cabinet, and other periodicals have published Torop’s images and writing. MacDowell,The Center for Land Use Interpretation, Lynden Sculpture GardenEyebeam, and Teachers College have granted him residencies.

He is co-editor of ASMR4, a series of photography monographs. He contributes code to darktable, an open source tool for processing photographs. He collaborates on the arts programming at Ithaca's The Soil Factory.

Torop has taught at Columbia University, Florida State University, City College, New York University, and Parsons. He received a BA from Harvard and an MFA from Yale. Torop is an Assistant Professor at Cornell University.
